Golf Day Generosity

Golf Day Generosity

With the sun shining and Felixstowe Ferry Golf Club doing Felixstowe Port Users’ Association and its guests proud, the FPUA charity golf day was a day to remember.

With 84 golfers across twenty-one teams playing on the day, a fantastic £8,850 was raised by the event, all of which will support local causes.

Jason Flower, chairman of the FPUA, says: “Firstly, a big thank you to everyone who participated in the day and donated so generously, notably our main sponsors 3PL, Gotelee Solicitors, GMA Warehousing & Transport, Vartan Consultancy, LPS and Pentalver.

“Congratulations, go, of course, to the day’s winners. Maritime Transport scooped the number one slot for the second year running in the team event, with Elite Universal and Magnus Group teams coming second and third, respectively.

“Congratulations also go to Maritime Transport’s George Copsey, whose skill on the course ensured his place as the day’s individual winner and Matt King and Stewart Newson, who both won nearest  the pin.”

Beneficiaries of funds raised this year include:

Jason Flower adds:  “We hoped to improve upon the £7,500 raised last year, and I’m delighted to say we achieved our goal. The last three golf days the FPUA has hosted have raised a hugely impressive £20,000 for good causes across our community.

This figure speaks volumes about the generosity and commitment of all those involved locally in the sector to look after our own. A massive thank you to everyone involved.”

Gotelee confirmed as main sponsor of Felixstowe Port Users’ Golf Day

Felixstowe Port Users’ Association (FPUA) is delighted to announce Gotelee Solicitors LLP as its headline sponsor of the Felixstowe Port Users’ Association (FPUA) upcoming Charity Golf Day.
Held at the award-winning Felixstowe Ferry Golf Club on 22 September, the golf day competition is one of the most important dates in FPUA’s calendar. It is the organisations biggest fundraising event in any given year.

Gotelee Managing Partner Andrew West comments: “We are proud to be part of the FPUA golf day as their main sponsor. We have been fortunate as an organisation to have manoeuvred through the pandemic successfully while continuing to grow and expand our team and client base. As a business, we feel it is important to give back to our community and support local causes. We are proud to be part of this fundraising event and look forward to meeting everyone taking part on the day.”

Jason Flower, Chairman of Felixstowe Port Users’ Association, says: “We’re thrilled Gotelee Solicitors LLP have extended their relationship with the FPUA by sponsoring our golf day. It’s a hugely anticipated event in our social calendar and we’d encourage anyone with interest in supporting our fundraising efforts to get involved.”

Goldstar Transport makes Litter-Free Pledge and urges industry to adopt the scheme

Goldstar Transport makes Litter-Free Pledge and urges industry to adopt the scheme

Goldstar Transport supports Litter-Free Felixstowe (an active community interest company with nearly 1,000 members) and is hoping you will join forces with them in support of its National Litter Free Roads and Laybys UK initiative.

Steve Jones, general manager at Goldstar says: “Few people will have failed to notice the dramatic rise in litter alongside our major roads and the laybys all over the country. Not only is it horrible to see but it impacts wildlife and the overall environment.

“We’ve decided to support Litter-Free Felixstowe but if we came together as an industry to support the initiative, we could bring it to the attention of a national audience. Lobby the relevant authorities and unite all major road users in tackling and hopefully ultimately eliminating the problem.

“We’re appealing to our fellow hauliers and the wider community to adopt the scheme and take a pro-active approach amongst their workforce and suppliers. Signage and stickers are being produced for our fleet and depots to reinforce the campaign’s principles. We plan to endorse the litter-free roads and laybys pledge and will be updating drivers’ handbooks and all future inductions. There’s also going to be a dedicated Facebook page to give members and the public a means of highlighting litter blackspots.”

Litter-Free Roads and Laybys are proactively launching the campaign on 22nd April – Earth Day and will include all those who sign up to the campaign in the release.

Steve adds: “It would be great to announce other hauliers and suppliers have come on board with their support when we officially launch. And it’s important to say there are no fees involved to join the scheme; the only costs will come if any stakeholders choose to use any of the signage elements to promote their involvement.”

A new online look for the FPUA

A new online look for the FPUA

Felixstowe Port Users’ Association has been busy over the last few months developing its new website.

More than ever before, websites act as a ‘shop window’ for an organisation or company and with this in mind, Jason Flower, chairman of the FPUA, says: “A refresh was well overdue as our original website was designed back in 2014. Not only has the role of an online presence changed since then, but as a membership organisation, so have we.”

As a pro-active, independent body for companies who conduct business activity in or through the Port of Felixstowe, Jason believes: “It’s vital that we reflect modern port life and the role our members play in keeping Britain moving.”

The new website encourages its 100+ membership to send in their news and to use the site as an extension of their own to communicate with the port community at large.
Jason adds: “Our aim is for our new website to become the first port of call for anyone looking to gain an understanding of what is happening locally and from a members’ perspective to be a collaborative voice on behalf of Felixstowe’s port community.”
